Whats on in Yorkshire this weekend?
I’ve been trawling through the event listings, so you don’t have to. Every week I will be picking my favourite events, outdoor, cultural, festival and foodie things to do across Yorkshire. If you are looking for a little inspiration for things to do across Yorkshire this weekend, look no further. Please do let me know if I’m missing anything unmissable.
1. Free day at RHS Harlow Carr, Harrogate.
If you are at a loose end today, or live locally and can get there today, RHS Harlow Carr are offering FREE entry for today only (Friday 4th), to take a Spring stroll around their 58 acre gardens and see the early Spring flowers. Don’t miss having a toasted teacake in Betty’s afterwards! Open from 9.30am. Cragg Lane, Harrogate HG3 1QB
2. Fashion-forward York
York is hosting a double-whammy of fashion fairs on Saturday 5th. At the Park Inn Hotel on North Street, York, SOUK Fashion Bazaar is showcasing up-and-coming designers and running free workshops from 10am-5pm. Over at St. Williams College, York Does Vintage presented by Audrey and Joans will include stalls from Yorkshire’s best-known vintage stores as well as vintage hairdressers, cupcakes and a host of other fun things. Entry is £1 with all proceeds going to charity. 10am-4.30pm. See you there!
3. Carmen in 3D.
The heat and drama of this much-loved Opera, set in Seville Spain is coming to The Vue cinema in Kirkstall Road, Leeds. Dig out your 3D glasses and be thrilled by Bizet’s tale of love, jealousy and betrayal. It starts at 6.30pm, tickets are £11.50 and can be booked online or over the telephone through My Vue. Will be interested to hear any reviews of this, it sounds great.
4. World book night – Kate Atkinson in York
An audience with York-born Kate Atkinson, at York Library Learning Centre from 7pm on Saturday 5th. Kate Atkinson’s ‘Case Histories’ is one of the 25 titles chosen for the inaugural World Book Night. Kate will be talking about her latest book ‘Started Early, Took My Dog’, as well as ‘Case Histories’. 5. Sheffield Adventure Film Festival
For adrenalin junkies and adventure sports fans, three days dedicated primarily to showcasing the best in adventure film at the largest independent cinema outside London. There is also a programme of complementary exhibitions, lectures and entertainment..
